Goals

My first goals when I become a teacher is to maximize and go beyond each student to their own potential. Although I must give everyone attention I need to be able to still distinguish which students are struggling and also which one needs more instructing. Also, I will walk through each step to those who are in need of additional information. One motto that I picked up somewhere was, "If a student has failed to learn, then the teacher has failed to find a way to teach." I love this phrase because it shows that everyone learns differently and that maybe a different way of looking at the problem was all that was needed. My goal is to also become flexible to both the traditional and modern styles of teaching. I need to combine every technique to succeed. Not only one style is the best way.

· Another goal that I need to work on is being strict with my rules. I tend to think that every child is an angel until I see the evil. It's like that phrase of being the role of a teacher and not a friend. I want them to be comfortable but I need to establish my own boundary to where they know that I am their teacher.   

I also plan to continue to take classes each semester and during summer to keep myself current to the best and latest teaching strategies. I must also continue to read books and textbooks as well so that I can experience what the student is going through when they are reading what I have assigned to them as homework or in class.
